About Red Balloon - NW London

The Red Balloon North West London community works together to recover each student from the effects of bullying and reclaim their self-esteem. Students' learning at Red Balloon starts with what interests them, which enables the students to take more responsibility for the content, processes and outcomes of their own learning and brings about a deeper engagement.

Red Balloon North West London is situated in Harrow. We take students from a wide area across London and from diverse backgrounds. Whilst we are able to use the vast resources and educational opportunities to be found in the capital to broaden our students' experiences, we also look at the issues that are relevant to young people growing up in a large city today. We are based in a comfortable period home, which provides our students the opportunity to develop life skills in the kitchen and garden; this is particularly valuable to young people living in an urban environment.

In this relaxed and secure community students learn to recognise their own and others' feelings and to appreciate the impact of their behaviour. Our students follow an integrated personal and social education programme to learn about their rights and responsibilities in the wider community in order to develop into active and engaged citizens. At Red Balloon North West London we have a full time counsellor who provides continual support as well as optional regular therapy sessions.
