Update on progress in Red Balloon North East

Since Lucy and Allison launched Red Balloon in the North East we now have a full complement of Trustees with the welcome addition of Kirsten Rix, an accountant who will assume the role of Treasurer/Finance Officer.

The team are also pleased to announce the addition of Paul Lawrence as Coordinator. Paul has over 25 years experience in teaching and management in education and will be joined by Lucy and Allison as deputy coordinators. We are now ready to provide a peripatetic service while we raise the funds we need to establish a full Red Balloon Learner Centre here in the North East. We have started making contact with local schools and distributing localized publicity materials.  We are now looking for suitable office space to work from and would be delighted to hear from anyone who might like to help with our fundraising and/or service delivery.

RB-NE would like to extend our continuing thanks to the Royal Grammar School Newcastle for providing monthly Trustees meetings and to Northern Stage for hosting our team meeting.

We are a registered charity (No. 1137276) with an active group of trustees and supporters.

We don't yet have a fully established Learner Centre, but we are able to offer limited support to small numbers of vulnerable children on an outreach basis.  If you would like to know how to access this service, please contact Paul or Lucy on 07875 101008 or email rb@northeast.rblc.org.uk.

We are on the lookout for suitable premises and are working with local authorities and schools across the region to establish the likely extent of demand for our services and clarify funding and referral issues.
