Red Balloon - Cambridge to grow its own vegetables

Zoe Lewin, a science teacher at Red Balloon – Cambridge, will organise regular trips to the allotment during the Summer Term.  Students will be involved in planning the layout of the allotment, preparing the ground, buying seeds and planting.  Students have already made a list of the vegetables they would like to grow and harvest and some vegetables have already been planted.  Once the vegetables are ready to be harvested, they will be brought back to the Centre and offered to everyone at lunch.  Since Red Balloon - Cambridge emphasises healthy eating at school, this is a perfect opportunity for students to learn more about growing healthy food and how to prepare it.
