A Generous Grant from the Freemasons' Grand Charity
The Provincial Grand Master of Cambridgeshire, Rodney Wolverson, presented a cheque for £25,000 to Carrie Herbert at Burwell House, where over 50 staff members were attending their Annual Conference. A photo of the presentation is due to appear in the “Cambridge News” in the next few days.
The professional issues addressed at the Conference included Assessment for Learning (keeping track of and providing evidence of the progress made by our students), Restorative Justice (alternatives to punishment when we wish behaviour to change), Choice Theory (understanding why people act as they do), the use of Google Apps (to make better use of the latest technology), and Child Protection (to ensure that we all know how to respond if a child discloses they have been subject to or witnessed abuse).
Burwell House (which is owned by Cambridgeshire County Council and used as a Field Centre for primary school pupils during term time) provided an excellent venue for teachers and others from RB-Merseyside, RB-Norwich, RB-NW London, RB-Warwick, RB-North East, RB-Cambridge and RB of the Air to get to know one another (better), exchange ideas about good practice, make plans for collaboration during the coming year, and enjoy eating, singing and relaxing together. As we have found before, the staff of Burwell House provide delicious food and excellent service.
