Red Balloon–Cambridge judged “outstanding” or “good” in all categories by Ofsted
The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted), which regulates and inspects education for learners of all ages, has judged Red Balloon-Cambridge “outstanding” or “good” in all categories.
The March 2011 report stated: “The Centre provides good quality education. Its procedures to safeguard students’ welfare, health and safety, and its safeguarding procedures, are outstanding. Parents and carers are very pleased with the positive effect the Centre has on their children.” The report continued: “The quality of curriculum is good, and the quality of teaching and assessment is good overall. The students’ behaviour, personal development and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development are outstanding. This is due to the Centre’s family-like ethos, its emphasis on helping students to recover from their previous unhappy experiences and outstanding support, care and guidance.”
Commenting on the report, Dr Bob Sproson, Red Balloon Learner Centre Group Director of Education said: “I was particularly pleased with the report because it is such an accurate reflection of the centre. Both staff and students thoroughly deserve this outcome. Even though we are delighted with this report, we acknowledge there is always room for improvement and we are working towards more outstanding features.”
Dr Carrie Herbert, Founder and Chief Executive of Red Balloon Learner Centres added: “Red Balloon-Cambridge has been offering children a robust academic and sensitive personal and social education programme to help them recover their confidence and return to mainstream school for the past fifteen years. I welcome the recognition the staff have received for their excellent teamwork and it is heartwarming to read the thanks and support from the parents. We are here of course for the children and to see them recover is the most valuable aspect of the work we do.”
