Golf day helps to change bullied kids’ lives
Norwich’s Learner Centre opened in 2006 and over 100 Norfolk children have been helped back into education or the workplace thanks to the charity. In addition, the centre has generated above average GCSE and Ofsted results.
The money from the golf day will improve Red Balloon’s community lounge by purchasing a custom-built seating area to create a relaxing and non-institutional room that is used extensively by the centre.
Norwich Chair of Trustee's, Dan Kelly adds “It really has been an amazing day and the charity is grateful to everyone who took part and the generosity of our supporters. Red Balloon has a very high success rate with 95% of children recovering and going onto further education or employment and this wouldn’t be possible without the support we receive.”
Colin Stacey, owner of Evergreen Building Ltd and a trustee of Red Balloon who organised the event, says; “We wanted to raise awareness of Red Balloon in the Norfolk business community and despite the tough economic conditions, businesses have been fantastic.
A big thank-you must go to everyone who supported our day, especially our three sponsors Armistead Building Services, Alan Boswell Insurance and AMA Waste. The youngsters will be delighted with their new community lounge.”
52 people took part in the event that attracted players from Liverpool, London, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. Companies included Aviva, Evergreen Building Ltd, Armistead Building Services, Norlife, A C Leigh, Allied Mechanical Services, West Norfolk Surfacing, Hemelec Electrical and Spirit Projects.
If you would like to play in next year’s golf day at Barnham Broom on Friday 1st July, please contact Colin Stacey on 07930287783
