Coordinator posts soon to be filled
A few thoughts on being a Coordinator
The role of the Coordinator is extremely varied. That’s what makes it interesting: no two days are the same. At times this means that you are juggling phone calls from parents, writing reports for donors, meetings with social services, mediating with students and planning projects with staff. However this all makes sense when you see one of your students manage a difficult situation with empathy, or travel home on the bus on their own for the first time. You get to know your students so well that the smallest amount of progress they make is recognised and celebrated.
Working at Red Balloon allows the flexibility to use your creativity to find solutions to problems and your ideas can be put into effect.
Being the Coordinator is a tough job at times, there can be difficult decisions to be made. However the reward of providing a safe environment for these young people to recover outweighs everything.
Experienced teachers or counsellors with managerial experience are invited to express interest in being considered for the Coordinator posts that come up as new Red Balloons come on board. Becoming a Coordinator involves being apprenticed for a period of up to a term, spending time in existing Red Balloons to learn how they operate and what the job of Coordinator entails.
